    E269 - School Bus Mass Casualty Event Break Down. This week Todd and Ash debrief a school bus MCI fairly close to home. Thankfully no children had any life threatening injuries. Listen in as they talk about the challenges and all the things that come to mind in an incident like this. WHO WE ARE As a group of Rural Volunteer Firefighters, our Fire Department has built our firefighter training from both old and new tactics in the fire service and adapted them to fit the realities of equipment, manpower, and costs around what our community requires.     E266 - Multi Department and Agency Task Force SIM This week Ash and Todd bring Scott back up to speed on what they have been up to. Ash explains a multi department/multi agency wild fire SIM that he helped set up that seen around 7 departments, BCEHS represented by TODD, RCMP, Search and Rescue as well as BC WildFire Services. What started out as a large piece of equipment on fire then spread to ground fuels and eventually into a rank 3 rank 4 wild fire that was threatening a neighbouring community. How to plan out whats required, what is expected and how to react when things don’t go as planned. Ash breaks down a recent Arson Scenario where the crew was dispatched to their training grounds with signs of smoke showing with no fire engines on scene from a nearby resident. The call progressed into multiple Pt’s missing, multiple burn buildings on fire that had command looking to take a step back and hand off areas of the scenario to his officers for the best outcome. Firefighters are problem solvers whose role requires them to be on their best day whilst others are having their worst day, and while we do not claim to be perfect we are willing to put our lives on the line to try. It’s during the trying that we continue to develop the mindset, tactics, and training that allow us to be effective, safe and successful where it’s needed the most, and by sharing our experiences we hope that it may help other Fire Departments in creating what works for them.
