Early Silent Horror Films (1896-1922‪)‬ Legacy of Brutality

    • Film History

This first season of Legacy of Brutality will serve as a brief introductory history of horror films. In this first episode, we trace the development of the horror film from Georges Méliès and trick films to German expressionist films such as The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari and Nosferatu.
Next week, we’ll talk about the rise of Hollywood horror films and the switch from movies to talkies. We’ll get into Lon Chaney, the Universal horror films, and so much more.
Check out my other podcast Dead and Lovely for weekly reviews of horror movies from me and my cohost intergalactic rock star Ben Eller! The very same Ben Eller who made the music for this podcast!
