East Coast DNA featuring Woody Woodburn
Join East Coast DNA host Darcy Walsh for a chat with Rockwood, Ontario based Woody Woodburn as he prepares for another trek to perform in Cape Breton.
We discuss his East Coast roots, early career, and a more recent refocus on a music career.
Born & raised in Mississauga, ON, Canada, Woody cut his teeth on the Canadian music industry with his band in the mid 90’s. Drawn to the small town lifestyle of his roots in Cape Breton, NS, he now calls his home Rockwood, ON. After many years struggling to find a place in the corporate world, he has now found a renewed passion & love for music and will not let anything stand in his way. The music is much more than Top 40. The kind of melodies that linger in your head well after you’ve heard them. He gives life to your own struggles. Like listening to an old friend. Woody is an unassuming, humble guy that will surprise you with his powerful voice. A voice that combined with with the real & “come from the heart” lyrics will leave you more hopeful & inspired in your life.

New bands are sprouting up all over the Canadian East Coast and we couldn't be happier.
Join East Coast DNA host Darcy Walsh for a chat with Gizmo.
Gizmo are a four-piece indie rock outfit based out of Charlottetown, PEI. Drawing inspiration from 90's lo-fi/slacker rock and the Halifax Pop Explosion scene, they are known for their energetic beer-infused performances showcasing their catchy power pop-esque hooks, distorted guitar tones, dynamic drumming style and epic Swaine bass lines.

East Coast DNA featuring The Living Walls
Join East Coast DNA host Darcy Walsh for a chat with Rheo Junior of The Living Walls.
The Living Walls is a four-piece band from Halifax that hitch-hikes on the road between The Band and J.J. Cale, and they just got picked up by a Bob Dylan impersonator in a sketchy looking pickup.
The group began as a free-form songwriting hang – “throw any idea at the wall, it may bounce off or it may take root” – and evolved into a band featuring members of Wharf Rats, Keith Hallett & The Hookers, The Ordeals, & The Chronos Band.
The Living Walls’ debut release, “Dishpan Larry”, introduces a colorful character who’s the apple of his mother’s eye and the hero of the walking trail.

East Coast DNA featuring Skye Wallace
Join East Coast DNA host Darcy Walsh for a chat with @SkyeWallace
With a skill in carving melodies and shreddable moments from rock foundations, Skye Wallace is also an expert at proving herself in every room, at every turn. The guitar-slinging Canadian road warrior has honed a visceral and honest sound, permeating equal parts Courtney Barnett, Patti Smith, and Neil Young’s Marshall Stack era. A live show from Skye and her band is guaranteed to make you let loose and feel something.
Shaped by an upbringing of constant motion, and a career that has seen her tour the country endlessly with respected acts such as Matt Mays and Crown Lands, Wallace is at home with the idea that change, especially in oneself, is a constant. This truism, equal parts empirical and emotional, has shaped these new songs, finished during lockdown but dealing with a time when staying in one place was wishful thinking. For Wallace, there’s both comfort and conflict in remembering and reconciling the versions of herself formed at the many stops along the way.

East Coast DNA featuring Alright Already (Sean MacGillivray)
Join East Coast DNA host Darcy Walsh for a chat with Sean MacGillivray as he gears up for a new release from Alright Already.
Literary, angular 12-string electric anthems which seek to agitate rather than soothe. Midwest emo guitar and pop-punk rhythm, too complicated for punk but too simple for prog. Dylan Mombourquette and AJ Boutilier provide the critical backbone for Sean MacGillivray's rhythmic compositions.
