Education podcast Beyond Education Episode 6: What's the problem with Generation Z?

Beyond Education Onderwijs podcast+ Podcast
The generation born between 1995 and 2010 (current age between 14 and 29 years) is called GenZ or generation Z. A generation that is described as unmotivated, lazy, depressed and lacking perseverance. They have difficulty solving problems, are more dependent on others and cannot deal with stress. At least, that is the image painted in the media. Are things really that bad for Generation Z? Have we pampered this young generation too much, let them freewheel too much and given them too little direction and guidance? Have we, as a previous generation, failed to create a framework that makes children feel unsafe? And is there really a generation gap in which GenZ people and the previous generation are directly opposed to each other when it comes to issues such as climate? And what is the impact of the mobile phone and social media on an entire generation? In this episode of Beyond Education, Zeno Groenewegen, together with psychologist Huijbrecht Boluijt, uses research and images to search for the truth about Generation Z.
