Women’s Biz Global Podcast Ep 67 - Annie Gibbins in Conversation with Emma Jane Taylor Women's Biz Podcast

    • Business

In this episode of Memoirs of Successful Women, the Transformation Queen Annie Gibbins interviews Emma Jane Taylor 💕CEO of The Works Company.

As a young girl Emma-Jane was told she was going nowhere. She was told this as she left senior school and used this as a weapon.

The truth was that at that point in her life she appeared to have gone down a dark lane. She had failed most of her exams, had spent most of her time bunking off school, had started drinking alcohol at 13 and was sent to a psychiatrist by the age of 14 and labelled a juvenile delinquent.

On paper it wasn’t looking so good. But her reality was very different. She shares her traumatic story in her debut book published in 2018, Don’t Hold Back. She was sexually abused at 9 years old and by 11 years old her biological father told her he could not see her again.

Aged 13 she fell into the hands of a family acquaintance who groomed her for the next few years. Throughout her teenage years she drank excessively, took drugs, became bulimic and by 17 years old was pretty exhausted by life.

She became extremely nervous, anxious, suffered with OCD, PTSD and at 19 she took off to Spain. At 21 she started her career back in the UK. After a series of professional contracts she decided to use her dancing abilities to set up some local dance classes. She temped in offices to keep a roof over her head whilst she continued to build her dance business.

Within a year she trained towards a fitness qualification and then opened a series of dance and fitness classes for adults. 4 years later she launched her own Performing Arts School for children aged 4-16 years old & developed her Fitness Company in the local areas. In 1996 (aged 24) she went into therapy.

In 2013 she was invited to host a show with That’s TV. Within a month she became the face of The Wellbeing Show for That’s TV and stayed for the next 4 years (2013-2017). She now presents regularly on various different media platforms; The Emma-Jane Show on YouTube/Spotify Podcast, The Well-Being Show & Power Hour with Marlow FM 97.5 Radio and Be Real, Be You with Inspire Radio. She writes regularly for media connections & publications including Her Edit Magazine.

Her debut book Don’t Hold Back was published in 2018 and is being read across the world; her personal and traumatic story of struggle and hardship was covered in her book and has given many people powerful tools to turn their life around.
