In this episode, I will talk about understanding stress, stress triggers, and coping with stress. Life can be hard, but you can live happy!
 
In the American Psychological Association’s October 2023 Stress in America survey, which included a nationally representative sample of more than 3,000 adults, women reported a higher average level of stress than men (5.3 versus 4.8 out of 10) and were more likely to rate their stress levels between an 8 and a 10 than men (27% versus 21%).
Women feel that no one understands how stressed they are!
   Coping mechanisms are strategies that help people deal with stress and uncomfortable emotions.
Side effects of the stress response include:    Increased heart rate    Increased breathing    Higher blood pressure    Increased alertness    Heightened senses    Release of glucose (sugar) into your bloodstream for energy    Hives 
 Stress Triggers   A. External triggers: Work, family, relationships, societal pressures   B. Internal triggers: Perfectionism, self-doubt, imposter syndrome   C. Recognizing the intersectionality of stress triggers for women
Coping Strategies from a Faith Perspective   A. Drawing strength from spiritual beliefs and practices   B. Incorporating mindfulness and meditation into daily routines   C. Cultivating resilience through prayer, gratitude, and self-reflection   D. Leveraging community support and mentorship within faith communities
Practical Tools for Coping   A. Time management techniques and boundary setting   B. Prioritizing self-care: Exercise, nutrition, and sleep   C. Seeking professional help when needed: Therapy, counseling, and support groups   D. Encouraging open communication and seeking guidance from trusted mentors
