    Looking for all day energy? Me, too. But realistically, we can’t possibly keep our energy at our highest level all day long, no more than a professional sprinter can keep their usual short distance pace for an entire marathon.

    It’s normal for humans to experience energy cycles throughout our day. It’s part of our circadian rhythm of physical, mental, and behavioral changes that follow a 24-hour cycle. What if we could map out our own personal energy cycles – and then use that information to better manage our lives?

    Dr. Eva Lantsoght will help us to do just that. Eva is a professor at two universities. One in Equador, where she is based. The other in the Netherlands. She has earned two master’s degrees – one in Civil Engineering and another in Structural Engineering. And, then her Doctorate in Structural Engineering. Her studies are focused on the design and analysis of concrete structures and analysis of existing bridges. But she won’t be talking about concrete and bridges with us. Instead, she’ll share her study of energy cycles as a consideration in project management – something we can all use in our daily life so we can get more done – and have more fun.

I'm not vegetarian, but I do eat a plant-based diet. To clear up some myths about plant-based diets is Robin Withrow-Wong, MS, RDN, a dietitian who specializes in plant based nutrition and type 2 diabetes. She is the owner of Nutrition With Robin where she helps women with Type 2 Diabetes lower blood sugars, lose weight and regain their health. Robin is also the founder of Reverse Diabetes Method, an online program that focuses on the whole person and their preferences and lifestyle so each person can find what works for them and they can learn how to live well with diabetes.

    Things are getting back to normal and you should feel great, but you don't. You're exhausted - physically, mentally, and emotionally. What's going on? You could be experiencing burnout. You're not alone. A recent survey from Indeed, 52% of people responding said they are experiencing burnout in 2021. That’s more than half!

    A lot of frontline workers were feeling burnout last year, at the peak of the pandemic, when they were working longer and harder in stressful situations without adequate opportunity to recover. Working parents who were trying to keep their job – and homeschooling as well experienced burnout. 

    But, even if you think you've been doing ok, burnout can creep into your life. And, here's what you can do to get back to your normal self.

    Have you ever felt threatened by a buzzard? Or followed by about 50 of those large black birds circling overhead - just waiting for you to drop to the ground so they could pick the flesh off your bones? That’s the situation we were in on a very hot day in Big Bend National Park near the end of a long hike and extremely dehydrated.

    But severe deyhydration isn't the only risk to our body. Even a slight 1% dehydration can affect how you think, feel, perform, and react. In this episode we discuss:


    How much water should you drink every day? 
    What temperature is best for hydration?
    What counts towards your rehydration needs – water, sports drinks…does coffee and other caffeinated beverages count?
    What if you don’t like the taste of water?
    Any advantages of pH Balanced water, alkaline water, vitamin water?

I first became aware of Dr. Jo through an amazing event hosted by TeamWomen. After the event, I started following her podcast and listening in for the amazing nuggets of wisdom. This podcast is a gift for everyone!
