Honest, open and courageous discussions about new ventures, entrepreneurship, innovation and commercialisation. That's it.

With over 30 years in business, all the books read, education etc,.. I still know I know nothing. Every venture has its own life, and every business has its adventure. Risk is the name of the game, and how you immerse yourself in it may be the greatest or worst experience of your life,.. sometimes both.

Join me as I talk to real people who did it, are doing it or are helping others.

What is certain is that the entrepreneur plays a critical role in our society as we seek to better our lives, that of our families and our community.

Let me quote something from the book The Denial of Death by Earnest Becker.

It goes like this: "The one who asserts himself out of defiance of his own weakness, who tries to be a god unto himself, the master of his fate, a self-created man. He will not be a pawn to others of society; he will not be a passive sufferer and secret dreamer, nursing his own inner flame in oblivion. He will plunge into life... But the ugly side of this ...is that it, too, is thoughtless and empty-headed immersion in the delight of technics with no thought to goals or meaning."

So, please join me as you plunge into this life, but do it with your eyes open, with meaning and love.

#020 Norm Jenkins on Culture in Startups as a competitive advantage & playing it straight with your life partner.

In this show, I interview Norm Jenkins again.  You may remember Norm was one of the first discussions on the podcast (EP#004).  Today, in Ep #020, we discuss the power of culture as a driver for entrepreneurial success in a start-up.  Norm and I discuss the power of establishing a solid culture at the beginning and building from there to minimize unnecessary friction and conflict and accelerate growth.  This includes the basis upon which the first foundational hires take place and the hard and confronting conversations we have to have with life partners.  This is complex and nuanced stuff but critical in the early stages.Enjoy my conversation with Norm Jenkins.Norm's contactable via linked-in (https://www.linkedin.com/in/normjenkins/) or email norm@i4d.com.au. https://entrepreneurship.au/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/020-Norm-Jenkins-PROD.mp3
