Ep 125 - You Don't Have To Be Mad To Work Here with Benji Waterstones Vittorio's Podcast

    • Comedy

Benji Waterstones is a frontline NHS doctor specialising in psychiatry. He is also an award-winning stand-up comedian whose material provides a fly on the padded-wall account of the mental health world and bust myths along the way i.e. there are no padded walls. His writing has been published in The Guardian and The Independent and his first book, a psychiatric memoir entitled ’You Don’t Have To Be Mad To Work Here’, is being published by Vintage in Summer 2023 and adapted for screen by House Productions. Combining art with science saw him feature on in a list of ‘Inspiring Psychiatrists’ by the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 2019. Outside of conventional psychiatry he has an interest in psychedelic research and helped on the ground-breaking RCT at Imperial College London comparing psilocybin (magic mushrooms) to conventional antidepressants in patients with major depression as seen in a recent BBC documentary.
