Today’s we have two tales about the native American history in the Upper Thumb of Michigan. Prior to European settlement, the Thumb region was considered a rich hunting and gathering area for the Anishinaabe, and the area was highly fought over. One tale is about Chief Standing Oak and the great battle near Sebewaing and the other is about the Sand Ridge Indian trail, which is part of today's M-25.
