Bruce Overby is a fiction writer with particular interest in issues of loss and belonging, family and relationships, the human condition in a technology-driven world, and addiction. His fiction has appeared in Storyglossia, the Green Mountains Review, the Evening Street Review, and the anthology Home of the Brave: Stories in Uniform from Press53. “Bookmarks,” the story of a brother’s struggle with alcoholism, his love of poetry, and the sometimes disturbing mix of the two, won first prize in the Lorian Hemingway Short Story Competition. Bruce is a graduate of the MFA in Writing Program at Queens University of Charlotte. He lives in Northern California with his wife Caroline.
NOTE: The Cyclone Release, was a finalist in the Blue Moon Novel Competition and is available now from Madville Publishing.
BONUS: Author Overby shares his meticulous method of plotting a novel using an MS Excel Spreadsheet and how the workshop that he attended at the beginning of his writing career helped him become a better writer along with many other anecdotes!
