Ep. 23: Discovering True Joy: Rejoicing in the Lord Through Life’s Trials with Chris Linke

In this episode of the Eternal Echoes podcast, host Katharine Rose speaks with Chris Linke, a 74-year-old woman of God who has come to discover lasting joy and peace in the Lord.

Chris explains how despite going to church her whole life, she never knew Jesus personally. It wasn’t until she was in her late 40s that she invited Jesus into her heart as Lord and Savior. “I knew all along that Jesus died on the cross, but I didn’t fully appreciate the fact that He did it for me,” she says. “And I take it very personally now.”

During our conversation, Chris shares how she has learned to rejoice in the Lord, trust in His divine timing, and rely on Him through various trials.

She also highlights life-changing experiences from her mission work in Kenya, where she and her husband, John, have sponsored children to receive an education at a school they’ve helped fund. She recounts particularly impactful experiences, including worshipping with African women and gifting Bibles to women who had never owned one.

Throughout our conversation, Chris encourages us to praise God through our trials, keep our minds centered on Him, and listen for His still, small voice.

-“Even if I'm having a hard time, I can still praise Him because He’s there and He’s getting me through it.”

-“He's always holding our hand. We gotta grasp onto His and just hold on for dear life.”

-“He will put a path before you, sometimes you just have to whack away a few weeds to get to it.”

-“The days that I focus on Him go so much better than the days that I try to do things on my own.”

-“When my mind is stayed on Him, that's when I feel the perfect peace.”

-“Even when He does shut a door, He is going to open a window. Might be little, but He is going to open it.”
