EP 27: Developing A Winning Mindset with Justin Spaulding Charli Muchow - Fearlessly Inspired Podcast

    • Mental Health

In Episode 27, we hear from 30-year-old entrepreneur Justin Spaulding. On top of being a very devoted newlywed husband, bonus dad, brother, and son, Justin has quite the resume when it comes to career success and achievement. All of which first began as a dream.

At some point in our lives, usually as children, we are asked the questions, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” and “What are your hopes and dreams?” Our answers come out swiftly because as children, the visions of our future selves (powerful, wise, beautiful, successful) occupy space in our mind frequently. However, somewhere along the way the belief in our own ability to fulfill these aspirations gets lost. Perhaps a parent, a teacher, or a friend wanted to “protect” you from failure because the odds of you fulfilling your childhood dream were low. In “protecting” you, they steer you down a “safer” path.

Luckily for Justin, if there were people in his life trying to protect him from failure, he didn’t notice them. If they told him he wasn’t good enough, he proved them wrong. If he felt self-doubt creeping into his thoughts, he slapped it away like a pesty little fly.

But how? Why? How does someone develop that winning mindset? What does it take? Does it require visualization & manifestation or is it just hard work? In this episode, we dive into Justin’s story. He shares a few of his successes, what he’s learned along the way, what it was like growing up in an entrepreneurial family, how to handle negative comments, as well as compliments and a whole lot more.

His confidence and candid delivery, the way he actively thinks on his feet instead of passively agreeing the way most do to keep the flow of conversation going, will keep you engaged in our discussion and curious as to what’s next.

His Achievements (thus far)

If you’re curious as to the above mentioned achievements, here is some of it: Justin has been active in real estate since 2009 and since 2012 he has completed transactions with a total deal volume of over $80,000,000. He has raised more than $12,800,000 of 3rd party investor funds, all of which have been successfully invested into cash flow producing property – the largest being a 199 unit, $18,700,000 deal.

He is the President & CEO of Spaulding Group – the private equity and management company, which began in 2016 and provides real estate management services to all the above-mentioned real estate holdings. The entire portfolio currently consists of cash flow producing real estate valued in excess of $53,000,000.

Most recently, in the spring of 2020, Justin started “Prime Painters”, an interior/exterior residential and commercial painting company.

He is a minority shareholder of MAVANA (Mixed Animal Veterinary Associates North America) which owns 30+ veterinary practices throughout the continental United States.

On top of career success he was also very successful in athletics. Justin was a NCAA All American football player at the University of Dubuque (Iowa) and is an inductee of the University of Dubuque Athletic Hall of Fame.

Justin is the author of a new book, his first book, titled “The Sure Thing” which we’ll take a shallow dive into during the podcast.

Last but not least, he has been a friend of mine for 6+ years for whom, I have loads of respect.
