Ep 41: Malkie Hirsch: Kiss The Kosher Cook Food Blogger turned Inspirational author not by choice Get INTUIT with Gila- a podcast about Intuitive Eating and Personal Growth.

In today's episode of Get Intuit with Gila, I had the honor and privelahe of intervewiing Malkie Hirsch of KissTheKoshercook. I actually got to meet Malkie last year when we were interviewed on the same day by Naomi Nachman. Many times, when you meet someone in person who you kind of "know" from Instagram, you are surprised that they aren't as nice as they seem. Honestly, I loved Malkie when I met her. She is so sweet, kind and easy to talk to. Malkie is a talented cook who shares a lot of whats goes on in her day to day life on her platform. Just about 1.5 years ago, Malkie's life completely changed when her husband Moshe, suddenly died. This is a challenge that no one should ever know, but as Malkie and I discussed in this episode, she has chosen to take this horrible pain and make meaning with it (as I said in the interview, check out the book By David Kessler and Elisabeth Kubler Ross https://grief.com/books-by-david-kessler/on-grief-and-grieving-elisabeth-kubler-rosss-david-kessler/). Malkie has been given a hardship that she never would have asked for, but is using this deep pain to help others. I personally suffered my own sudden loss, 2 years ago when my mother died very suddenly. Everyday, since that day, I have felt swallowed in a cloud of grief, pain, hopelessness, despair and confusion. When I started reading Malkie's articles, I had some semblance of hope, an anchor, and space and place to carry my pain with me. Malkie has an incredible way with her written words and she is a huge source of inspiration and hope for me and for so many others. A bit more about Malkie: Malkie Hirsch is a native of the Five Towns, hailing from Lawrence and moved to Woodmere after marrying her husband Moshe and is currently raising her kids (Dovid, Nison, Yosef, Gavriel and Rosie) on Barnard ave. She started working in marketing, running the hair and makeup division at an artists agency, and currently works as a real estate broker in addition to being a food blogger at the popular Instagram page “kiss the kosher cook”. She has a Facebook page of the same name and a food sharing WhatsApp page called “kiss the kosher queens.” Last year, after the sudden and tragic death of her 40 year old husband, she took to writing about her journey as a single mother to 5 kids (ages 11-1 1/2) on her page as well as The Five Towns Jewish Times publication on a weekly basis, where it’s been a very therapeutic process and has also inspired many that have reached out to share their varied stories.
