EP 43 EXPOSED! The Warnings Doctor | Are Wildfires, Smoke & Poor Air Quality Our Future?  - with Dr. Gerry Goldhaber

Climate change may be the ultimate warning story.  We may have to concentrate on mitigation strategies if we have indeed reached the tipping point of global warming.  Canadian wildfire smoke has worsened air quality across the U.S.  Climate change and rising temperatures cause the environment to be more prone to wildfires, and more susceptible for air masses to become stagnant and stationary.  People are at significant risk.   Wildfire smoke can make anyone sick, especially people with asthma, COPD or heart disease, and those who are pregnant as well as children.  The particles from wildfire smoke can get deep into the lungs and cause short-term problems like coughing and itchy eyes, and in the long run, can affect the lungs and heart.  Research suggests that it's only going to get worse in the coming decades.  As The Warnings Doctor, I believe we need to take these smoke alarms seriously.  Let's take action, both locally and globally, to reduce our carbon footprints.  Heed the warning of scientists.  And remember, the more informed you are, the safer you'll be!
