Ep. 93: Not Focusing on the Rear View Mirror Live This Life Podcast

    • Philosophy

Sometimes we are nostalgic for times past, which isn't a bad thing until it takes away from the present.  The "good ol' days" have their place and time, and it is fun to take a stroll down memory lane.  But when we have the expectations that the recreation of an old memory is going to be as good as the original, its not fair to the new memory; and does not do the old one justice.

In this episode, Heath shares a story about a weekend he had recently going to see his #1 Band (Ra) and recalls all the great times that were had in year's past.  And the place that the show happened was a place where many crazy fun nights were spent.  Heath explains how heading into the weekend had high expectations of recreating the past, but that ultimately didn't happen.

Instead of trying to recreate the past; appreciating the experience for what it was solidified the new memories. Sometimes looking in the rear view mirror can make you crash since you aren't looking through the windshield of your life to see where you are going.
