Episode 07 – Barbara Jackman Lawyer By Day

    • Society & Culture

Barbara Jackman is a Canadian lawyer and a specialist in immigration, refugee, human rights and national security law. She is one of Canada’s most effective advocates for immigration and refugee rights, and an incredibly inspiring lawyer. I was very lucky to meet Barbara at a wedding in India last year, and she very kindly agreed to speak to me (on Skype) for this episode of Lawyer By Day. We talk about immigration and refugee law, being in Chile during the military dictatorship, being an advocate and spending time in court in the late 1970s and her career since, and why the government listens to her phone calls.
