With a legendary career spanning five decades, Kansas has firmly established itself as one of America’s iconic classic rock bands. This "garage band" from Topeka released their debut album in 1974 after being discovered by Wally Gold, who worked for Don Kirshner, and have gone on to sell more than 30 million albums worldwide.
The group is best known for "Carry On Wayward Son," a song that continues to be one of the top five most played songs on classic rock radio, and "Dust In The Wind," which has had more than three million spins on radio.
The iconic band most recently released their 16th studio record, The Absence of Presence, in July 2020 which debuted at No. 10 on Billboard's Top Current Albums chart and other charts around the world. Last year, Kansas released Point of Know Return Live & Beyond which features 22 songs from 12 shows recorded in 2019 and 2020 on the progressive rockers' Point of Know Return Anniversary Tour.
Ronnie Platt talks to us about his journey from being a huge fan to becoming the Kansas frontman for nearly a decade. He also discusses their most recent studio and live records, as well as what's ahead for the band.
