To get your primed for the convo, check out this blurb all about the book, but tune in to learn more! "Letters to a Young Conductor: Thoughts on Music and Life is now available in print and on Apple Books. I wrote this with a younger version of myself in mind. Over four sections, “Mindset,” “In Rehearsal,” “In Concert,” and “Building A Career,” I offer the advice I wish I had listened to when I was first starting out. It’s a mix of philosophy and practical tips sprinkled with humor. Amazing and encouraging resource

I discovered this podcast about 2 months ago listening to Choralosophy. I just finished my final episode (long commute in LA traffic means lots of podcast time.) Thankfully I’m a Patreon member so I have that content to listen to next!
Although I am experienced music educator with over 13 years in the classroom, this year is my first time teaching secondary curricular chorus and this podcast has been a lifeline, giving tips, encouragement, inspiration, and even introduction to repertoire. Plus I feel like Emmy is a friend!

Great Variety of Relevant Topics and Guests

I have been enjoying this podcast so much! Dr. Burch does such a great job of allowing her guests a lot of room to speak, and she recaps the big ideas as they happen. She has a great banter with the guest, but she keeps their dialogue, experience, and expertise centered. In her “The Dr. is In” episodes, we get to hear her point of view and experience centered. I have found her guest choices to cover different areas of musical relevance, as well as current educational trends and needs. Her energy is so positive and inspirational, and I have loved spending time listening to this podcast. Highly recommend!
