Early detection of bleeding directly affects survival rates for patients with cancer, but oncology nurses can improve outcomes by providing education and treatment for oncologic emergencies like thrombosis. ONS member Carrie Moore, MSN, OCN®, NE-BC, nurse manager at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, and member of the South Carolina Low Country ONS Chapter, joins Stephanie Jardine, BSN, RN, oncology clinical specialist at ONS, to discuss bleeding disorders and thrombosis and their current management and treatment strategies.
