Episode 26: Is A Plant-Based Diet Safe For Kids? Science Surrounding Kids and Veganism.

Children on vegan diets may have a healthier cardiovascular profile, less body fat, and surpass the exact same growth milestones as their meat-eating counterparts. Over the past few decades, vegans were informed that a meat-free diet could result in growth defects, bone mineral issues, and concerns about micronutrient status.

In the past 30 years, vegan research was not a hot topic, and as a result, very few studies were conducted on the issue. Today, with veganism exploding in popularity, the diet is being evaluated more critically and research is showing us that the old folklore surrounding a vegan diet may have nothing more than more nutritional nonsense with no bases in science.

Join the Plant-Based Riot as they revoke the folklore and discuss emerging research about children and veganism!

JBGmeow ,

Surprise, I love it.

I randomly saw a poster for this podcast in a cafe I was in and I decided to check it out. I must say that I am actually incredibly impressed with this show! I think it is really interesting and the conversation between the guys is not annoying, which I find IS the case more often than not.

They are incredibly intelligent and provide an abundance of good information. Even if you are already vegan, it is still very informative and I think it’s really important to educate people, so a podcast is a great idea.

I am not vegan, but I work for a health food company and I am always trying to make the healthier decisions when it comes to my diet. Unfortunately, convenience often wins out in my world. HOWEVER... I have learned a lot of very useful information from this podcast today and information wins over convenience in my world as well (cough Ravenclaw.) SO thank you to the hosts for doing a great job on this podcast and please continue the hard work!! I have already recommended the podcast to four people just this hour. :)
