Episode 3: Vanessa Fraser is Playing the Long Game Runners of The Bay

    • Health & Fitness

In this episode, we chat with Santa Cruz County (Scott’s Valley) raised, Stanford Alum, and current Bowerman Track Club member Vanessa Fraser. Vanessa shares:

How she went from a running a big PB at BU’s Last Chance to undergoing an Achilles and calcaneus procedure on both of her feet.

How she’s handling the longest time off running in her career. How she benefitted from a high school coach who saw her long term potential and didn’t ever let her overtrain for short term goals.

How being one of the youngest, slowest people at Stanford’s cross country camp in 8th grade paved the path for her to joining the Stanford XC/T&F team.

Her major and thesis at Stanford.

What is was like going from Stanford to joining one of the most elite professional teams.

How social media has shifted what it means to be an athlete and the responsibilities professional athletes have to share more than just their running performances with their fans.

What she learned from each of her coaches.
