Gaslighting, Trust, & Protecting Your Power The OutSpoken Girlfriend with Naomi Clark
-
- Self-Improvement
Today we are talking about Power.
Specifically, we are talking about the practice of gaslighting- and how it’s used to take away your power.
The definition of gaslighting means to manipulate someone into questioning their own sanity.
And most often this is a term used to identify abusive behaviors in a relationship.
And gaslighting is a real thing and it can occur in relationships.
However, at its core- gaslighting is ultimately about power.
Gaslighting is about shifting power away from the individual- by instilling self-doubt and distrust.
And we feel like we can’t trust ourselves- we look for approval and authority outside of ourselves.
And this gaslighting can occur in all areas of one’s life.
However, if we are taught to only identify gaslighting in relationships- it means we don’t recognize it elsewhere.
And that is a problem. A significant problem.
In today’s episode we talk about how to identify and disrupt gaslighting at the individual level & systemic level.
When we learn how to do this- then we are making power moves.
Tune in for this important conversation.
