This week I talk with Brie Smith, Services Director at Return Home, about the value of slowing down deathcare processes for grieving families. With the emergence of new, alternative forms of disposition like natural organic reduction which inherently take a long time, funeral professionals at the cutting edge of deathcare are seeing a huge benefit to going slow and allowing space for families to process their grief. Brie discusses how Return Home’s 60+ day process allows families to form relationships with the deathcare professionals taking care of their deceased loved ones and  allows more time for building and experiencing grief rituals. We also talk about how this mentality could be beneficial across the profession in both how we work with families, and within internal deathcare company culture.
