Episode 49: How to make empowered choices with Trina Altman

The Diet Diaries

I’m thrilled to have movement teacher and educator Trina Altman on the podcast today. I’ve known Trina for years and have learned from her as both a student, a teacher and a coach. She is one of the most brilliant and gifted teachers I know.

Right away we’re diving into our mutual dislike of cooking and how we’ve found a way to work with that and create a happy, sustainable relationship with food.

Then we follow it up with so much good conversation around:

-How the way you grow up with food and how your family eats can have a major impact on how you use and connect with food as an adult.

-Trina’s candid discussion of her background with childhood sports and cheerleading and how that impacted her body image

-What its like to teach Pilates and work in the fitness business and not focus on aesthetics.

-Trina’s own struggles around certain foods like chocolate and the progress she’s made towards a more sustainable relationship with it

-The key difference between strength training and Pilates and why it matters

-How to figure out what kind of exercise is right for you when it seems like nothing fits
