Mother's Day was this weekend, and is a complicated holiday for many folks. On the one hand, the celebration of women's expected unpaid labor for one singular day seems trite, at best. Ideally, parenting is a collaborative relationship between two (or more) parents, with each parent contributing an equal amount to the development of their children.
