Episode 78: The Business of Cannabis with Yummi Karma The Authentic Audience Podcast

    • Business

Krista speaks with Krystal Kitahara and Kristine Freeman from Yummi Karma, an all-woman cannabis company based in Orange County, California. Yummi Karma aims to normalize the use of cannabis, and Krystal, the company’s founder, describes how its first tincture, Drift Away (a dreamy mixture of magnesium, melatonin, chamomile, lavender, and cannabis), was initially devised to treat her mother’s insomnia.
Today, Yummi Karma produces a wide range of tinctures and lotions designed to soothe the mind, body, and soul. Krystal is particularly proud of the products it makes for women, and marketing manager Kristine Freeman, explains how its skincare lotions have been designed to look, smell, and feel like they come from a high-end beauty store but contain the added bonus of beneficial cannabinoids. As someone who has used marijuana to self-medicate since she was a teenager, Krista reflects on how the culture (and the law) around cannabis have changed and how microdosing has made it easier and healthier for her to use it to alleviate her anxiety.
