Episode 8: Academia's Impact on Mental Health with Dr. Dylan Cutler, PhD Table for Three: You, Me and Anxiety
-
- Mental Health
In this episode we invited our friend and badass doctor, online holistic health educator, scientist, consultant and mental health warrior, Dr. Dylan Cutler, Ph.D to the table for a difficult conversation.
Dylan pursued and obtained her Ph.D. in obstetrics and gynaecology specializing in lifestyle changes for PCOS while being diagnosed with four mental illnesses (which were triggered by her journey in academia). She braved her way through her Ph.D with episodes of panic, harm OCD, anxiety and depression.
We discuss how her journey in academia deeply impacted her mental health, some of the symptoms of mental illness that people don't often talk about, what she does to support her own health while supporting others and the importance of hard conversations and vulnerability in healing.
Thanks for bringing this difficult conversation to the table, Dr. Dylan.
