We see The Sci-Fi Christian, in all its iterations, as being about the collision between faith and nerdom. We believe that good genre fiction is about more than just entertainment. We seek to engage with the themes and philosophies behind our favorite stories, wrestling with the big ideas within speculative fiction. We’re unabashedly nerdy and unabashedly Christian. Even if your faith background differs from ours, we look forward to interacting with you at The Sci-Fi Christian!

Great show!

First off I MADE IT!….through ep. 969! They said email the response but this’ll do.
I’ve been listening since 2015 and right away I was hooked. These two have found a special thing. I think it’s rare for a show to be so flexible and all over the place topically yet still on track, thoroughly entertaining and interesting.
Over the years the show has been a source of knowledge, thought, entertainment and recommendations.
I’ve laughed and I’ve cried and feel a connection and fondness for these two and their wonderful show. I started out evangelical/non-dom Christian listening to the show and now I lean towards the mystics, but this show nonetheless provides quality entertainment and insight to all!
That’s just like my opinion man…

A Match Made In Space

As others have pointed out, this is less a podcast about Science Fiction or Christianity than it is the documenting of a meaningful friendship. Ask the hosts and they will tell you that the podcast is about whatever interests them, whether or not it touches on either of the titular subjects. Matt Anderson is a prolific alpha-geek wherever else he appears. Here, he often good-naturedly defers to his co-host (except on matters of show decorum). Ben De Bono is the curmudgeonly know-it-all you hate to love. If Matt’s enthusiasm and organizational skills are the rudder and sails of the show, Ben’s good taste in film and literature and his pop-cultural skepticism are the spine and ballast. In terms of worldview, Matt is an evangelical Christian and is the more cautious about “not setting anything impure” before his eyes. Ben is pretty much game for anything with intellectual merit. Longtime listeners heard Ben convert to Catholicism on the podcast, and if I’m being totally candid, I actually rage-quit the show for quite a while when this happened. I was drawn back by the fun and friendship that is part of every episode, and by the love and grace that Matt and Ben show to each other on a regular basis.

Excellent!

This is one of the very first podcasts I ever listened to. I had searched for something Christian and sci-fi figuring there’d be nothing out there. There was, and I’ve been listening ever since. Love it!
