Episode #98--"Daily Bread Discernment"--1:1 Conversation with Sister Josephine Garrett Say Yes to Holiness

    • Self-Improvement

This week’s Say Yes to Holiness 1 on 1 Conversation podcast episode is with Sister Josephine Garrett, religious sister of the Holy Family of Nazareth community and OSV Innovation speaker. speaker.

My conversation with Sr Josephine focused upon going even deeper into the topic of her OSV talk, entitled, Daily Bread Discernment. From bank executive to religious Sister, conversion can truly turn your life upside down, and Sister Josephine's was no different!

All conversion and change is rooted in discernment. Sr. Josephine shares a beautiful message about vocation and the need to accept the daily offering of our God for HIS purposes and of sharing the mission. Her OSV talk definitely challenged, invited and inspired me to re-think the need for conversion and the path of healthy discernment, and our 1:1 conversation does the same.

Sister Josephine is a native Texan, born and raised in Houston. She moved to Dallas in 1999 to begin studies at the University of Dallas where she completed a BA in Political Philosophy with a Business Concentration. Sister subsequently entered the banking industry, serving for 10 years as a Vice President in the Home Loans division of Bank of America in the roles of Operations Manager of a staff of 200 and later as a Project Manager. Sister was raised Baptist and entered the Catholic Church in 2005. Later, in November of 2011, she began her formation to be a religious Sister. In November of 2020 Sister Josephine professed her final vows as a Sister of the Holy Family of Nazareth.

She is a licensed counselor. serving as the school counselor for the cathedral grade school in Tyler, TX, and also in private practice. Sister has also served in vocations ministry and as a national speaker for youth and young adults, speaking to groups of up to 25,000.

During our conversation, I was enriched by Sister Josephine's insights into the spiritual life, and how important it is to slow down and let God take the lead in all things, especially as He reveals His plan for our lives.

I just loved spending time in conversation with Sr Josephine, and I pray you receive as much hope, inspiration and encouragement as I did so you may continue doing WHATEVER IT TAKES to to fully live in the present moment and be open to whatever daily bread God desires to give you.
