Speed Racer (2008)
“We go into the Art Institute [of Chicago] and every room there, there are paintings that look completely and utterly different from the other rooms. But in cinema, everything looks the same. And it's a really aggressive straight-jacket, aesthetically. We started talking about cubism, for instance, and we started talking about could you make a cubist film? And we realized that if you try to make a cubist film for adults, you will end up like Picasso, running from the angry mob when he first showed Guernica. They wanted to kill him. Literally. It's because adults... they reject change, and an aesthetic change is too aggressive a death for them. Every generation experiences aesthetic death, and when you really assault an aesthetic, people freak out. But we said that kids are okay with aesthetic change.” - Lana Wachowski on making Speed Racer.

Amazing show
A mix of genres and guests, consistently likable hosts, a really fun hang. Come for the cheesy 80s dad movies, stay for the razor sharp analysis and AAA guests.
Coen Brothers fan here
If you guys like Coen Brothers movies, then you’ll love the Fargo series on FX. There’s inspirations from all Coen movies weaved into the series along with the actors who have worked with the Coens previously. It’s top notch television.
Cool People Talking Nerd Stuff
There is no shortage of movie podcasts out there. The thing that makes the Dune Pod stand out is that the hosts and guests are the kind of people you want to hang out with. Like, if I met them in high school I would have spent all lunch hour needing out with them. Here’s the thing though - they actually seem cool. Not, like, pop-collared and varsity jacket cool. Cool as in they are super earnest and kind while they talk about movies and what not.
