Paolo Destilo
Europe Matters

Europe Matters is a bold, fresh & curious podcast series that delves deep into thought-provoking questions pertinent to where Europe is at and where it is heading. On a bi-weekly basis, our host Paolo Destilo discusses these issues with thought leaders, artists, academics, writers, comedians, actors, civil society leaders, activists and all those who care about the future of Europe. Their experiences and vested interest in European matters make their insight only more valuable. If you are wondering what's going on in the Old Continent and want to learn more, this is the perfect show for you! It gives you the tools to examine (inter)national issues from a glocal perspective. Chek out our website for more: https://europematters.com Hosted on Acast. Noam Chomsky on how to solve the pandemic, the Ukraine crisis and climate change

In this special interview, Noam Chomsky, global thought leader, linguist, political dissident and political theorist, tells us why he thinks Europe has accepted to subordinate itself to the United States, even though it has always had the option to become an independent force in international affairs. We discuss the consequences of this choice like the ongoing Ukraine crisis as well as the lessons learnt from the pandemic, why vaccine patents are a threat to global health, and the role Europe could play in the transition towards a more equitable and ecological future.   To find out more about Noam Chomsky’s work, check out his website, the Diem25 movement of which Noam is an Advisory Board Member, and his latest written work “The Precipice”. Further reading about topics discussed in this interview: Ukraine: The most dangerous problem in the world, Anatol Lieven Noam Chomsky: US-China Cooperation Is Essential to Avert a New Cold War   Noam Chomsky: Corporate Patents & Rising Anti-Science Rhetoric Will Prolong Pandemic   A special thanks goes to Noam Chomsky, who, at age 93, gave our team his time to discuss these pressing topics.
