    During this podcast, the podcast team discussed managing the many types of documentation associated with the Human Resources obligations in an organization.  
    A key file maintained by employers contains personnel records. Roshni and Dan discussed the types of documents that are typically in a personnel file and made recommendations on things that should not be included in the file. We discussed retention of I-9 forms, medical records and confidential investigations in a separate location and file from the personnel file.  The podcast members also discussed leave of absence documentation as well as performance reviews and corrective action documentation. The topic of retention periods for documentation was also addressed.

    We also spoke about the California mandate SB553 and how employers are required to establish, implement, and maintain an effective, written Workplace Violence Prevention Plan (WVPP) no later than July 1, 2024.

    024 - Updating Employee Handbooks Based on Changes in California Law for 2024

    The podcast team discussed the recent changes in California law that should be included in an updated employee handbook.
    California employment law continues to change, and employers need to take those changes into consideration when updating their employee handbooks.  Troy, Roshni and Dan discussed and recommended changes based on new mandatory sick leave requirements, a reproductive loss leave of absence, new protected statuses such as reproductive health decision making and use of cannabis outside of work hours.  The new marijuana testing requirements were also discussed.

Just finished episode 1. Being an HR professional in the current state of business can be a challenge. I really enjoyed how they brought up the situations no one thinks about first, but can be very important. Keep up the good work and looking forward to future episodes !
