FSU football vs. LSU: Breaking down Tigers recruiting ahead of 2023 matchup between Florida State Seminoles and LSU
Welcome to the Line of Scrimmage, offseason edition, where we’ll carve out time to dive into the recruiting classes of a select few upcoming Florida State football opponents.
To kick things off, we’ll revisit Zachary Junda and the LSU faithful from our sister SBNation site, And The Valley Shook. Zach joined us last season prior to Florida State’s cardiac arrest-inducing victory over the Tigers.
While we touch on the game, we take time to focus on how the 2023 recruiting and transfer classes shaped up for the LSU Tigers.
The Tigers finished with sixth overall combined class, according to the composite rankings, managing to add players coveted by top programs from around the country at key positions in the high school ranks while also filling the positions of need in the transfer portal.
In this debut episode of the Line of Scrimmage’s offseason edition, we take a look at how second-year head coach Brian Kelly and his staff combined the experience of recruiting nationally at Notre Dame with the advantage of being the lone football powerhouse in the state to land one of the top classes in the nation.
Some of the questions and topics touched on:
Overall grade for Brian Kelly’s first year at the helm
What can LSU expect from their two top commits from each side of the ball — offensive tackle Zalance Heard and defensive end Dashawn Womack, both 5 stars?
Which positional need did Kelly address the best? And what still is a concern?
Who are some other players to highlight from the 2023 class?
Of the new crowded secondary room, which of these players have the most likely path to starting for LSU?
Did the Tigers address the concerns they had in the defensive trenches?
What were some of the biggest hits LSU took in portal departures?

Perfect game, set, match.
Florida State Seminoles softball, the No. 3 overall seed in the 2023 NCAA Tournament, came into Sunday with a 2-0 record in the Tallahassee Regional, facing off against the South Carolina Gamecocks after taking down Marist and UCF.
South Carolina managed to snag a win in the final, setting up a Game 2 that provided a platform for Kathryn Sandercock to etch her name in the Florida State record books.
For the first time in Seminoles softball history, a pitcher threw a perfect game in a postseason matchup — and FSU earned its spot in the school’s 10th Super Regional all-time.
What led up to the historic moment? On the latest edition of the Seminole Softball Wrap, Brian Pellerin and Gwyn Rhodes break down the weekend, from Florida State’s regional-opening run-rule win to its heart-stopping clincher vs. the Gamecocks on Sunday.

Wide receiver Keon Coleman commits to Florida State Seminoles -- what does this mean for FSU football?
In case you forgot, Mike Norvell is the transfer portal king — Norvell and the Florida State Seminoles have consistently shown they’ll upgrade their roster by any means. Today, FSU landed a major addition in former Michigan State standout wide receiver Keon Coleman. The highly-sought transfer, whose birthday is today, announced that he’s headed to Tallahassee.
If the name sounds familiar, it’s probably because Coleman was a favorite among the Three Stars at Tomahawk Nation during the 2021 recruiting cycle.
Coleman originally chose the Spartans over 42 other offers.
This time around, Coleman chose the Seminoles over the Arkansas Razorbacks, Louisville Cardinals, North Carolina Tar Heels, Oklahoma Sooners, Ole Miss Rebels, Texas A&M Aggies, and USC Trojans, among others.
Tim, Josh, and David are here to break it all down for you in the latest edition of the Florida State of Recruiting podcast.
What does Coleman’s addition mean for FSU?
Where does he fit best in the offense?
How might this impact recruiting for 2024 and beyond?

FSU football: Seminoles add blue-chip receiver, ACC meetings kick off with revenue questions looming
The Florida State Seminoles seem to have a boatload of offensive firepower at their disposal and, this week, the rich got richer with the addition of 2021 blue-chip wide receiver Destyn Hill.
The former top 150 recruit was part of the 2021 recruiting class but didn’t make it to campus... that is until now.
In this episode of the Seminole Wrap podcast, Brian Pellerin, Jon Marchant and Max Escarpio take a look at what he can add to this skill player group plus a look into some new post-spring football power rankings from ESPN and USA Today that are only going to drive the Florida State hype train for 2023 up a notch.
Also, FSU athletic director Michael Alford spent the weekend again talking about the need for change in the ACC’s revenue structure — something he did two months ago on the show — before he heads to the ACC spring meetings this week.
The show dives into what leverage Alford and his fellow ACC members have to get the deal done.

The opponents standing in the path of a Super Regional berth for FSU?

Thank You
I just wanted to take a moment to thank each of you for what you do. You bring a fresh perspective on the Noles. Some sites and pods are to homer and then there is one or two that tries so hard to not be a homer that it blurs their vision. Thank You!
True Noles
Love the show fellas. In The Triple Option you guys have found something that no other media outlet does, and it has been lacking for at least a decade.
The Nolecast was born on Tomahak Nation and is the Standard. I enjoy most of the other media that cover this team and OTB is certainly one of the most notable.
You Boys are following in the path of the Standard. Another great reason to support Tomahawk Nation.
Thank you for the great content.
Good podcast
Update: it’s good to see Kevin little landed on his feet as I was a huge fan of his dancehall hit of 2003 “turn me on”
With takes hotter than Ingram smiths Louisiana hot sauce singed anus, Trey Rowland brings the heat. Coach AB adds a lot of great insight as well too. Can’t get enough Noles content so this is a great supplement to the other Noles pods I’m sure you listen too. I still think Trey needs to stop interrupting people at times with laughs or jocular comments but he’s come a long way to clean up the rough edges on the rowlcast which I did like
