Love / Dislike Relationship

I learned about Lacy on Goop this summer, zoomed over here and binged episodes. I’m also a coach and find Lacy and I teach very similar things - so in a way this podcast was pouring into my cup: a way to receive the work I do for others for myself.

Initially, her speaking voice (yeahhhh, totallyyyy) and the way she interrupts so often was too much. But I was enjoying the content so much that I set that aside to benefit from the new information. That, coupled with the subscription I pay for which includes videos of her speaking allowed me to see into her personality more and it helped my perception of this somewhat annoying speaking style.

Overall, I love that there are people having metaphysical, spiritual and INTELLIGENT, INTELLECTUAL conversation. I hadn’t heard of Human Design and I hadn’t heard such deep conversation surrounding astrology, nor had I heard of flower essences before. Just a few examples. So this was amazing.

But one of the things that is most in the “dislike” potion is the focus on herself and her story. She had spoken about wanting to be an actress earlier in life and a need to be “seen”. But when I think of great podcasts, the focus is on the information. For instance, Oprah doesn’t talk much about her personal life. There’s little bits here and there for relatability, but it’s not the foundation of the conversation. Her foundation is a focus on substance and her guests’ value-add.

It makes me wary of anyone wanting to seem like the face to a spiritual healing practice or some sort of guru. Too much ego means too little substance.

My recommendations to Lacy are to work with professional speaking coaches. Listen to the audio and hear how distracting some of the background is. Stabilize your recording area before you begin. Teach your tools and refrain from a 15 minute intro of your life story on each episode. We aren’t here for that!

Great but wish it was all spiritual guests, also lacy cared so much about what people think of her

I like Lacy’s podcasts, but I feel like they are more interesting and relevant when they pertain to spirituality and manifestation.

Also, I’ve never heard someone say so many times how little she cares what other people think, when it’s so blatantly the opposite in truth. Her voice changes according to whatever kind of guest she has, she uses inflections in her voice to sound Euro and she is doing everything she can to deny where she came from. I have never heard of a host more in love with herself and with such an insecure need to constantly talk about herself only and to impress people. She seems really cold, too.
