Funny and heartfelt, this podcast draws on the realities of expat life to offer you smart and simple solutions so that you can quickly (and painlessly!) adapt. Be successful, find your purpose abroad and stay connected with those who mean the most.
246: The Compound Interest Effect
Sundae discusses the connection between purpose and money. She explains how people can comprehend simple versus compound interest when it comes to finances but misunderstand the real cost of the intangible things in life. Sundae demonstrates how we can stop undervaluing resources like energy, health, progress, and relationships, and shares ways to swap shallow victories for savvy long-term gains.
245: Wildly Improbable Goals with Carol El Hawary
Leadership and crisis management specialist, Carol El Hawary, joins Sundae to recount how, with Sundae by her side, she achieved her lifelong dream. Carol shares ways she overcame imposter syndrome to bravely open her tour guiding business, Literary Tours, during perhaps the worst time in history for travel.
244: The Winning Formula for Long-Haul Success
Sundae continues her ongoing focus about purpose. She discusses the scientifically proven health benefits of living with less fear and more intention. Sundae also shares a test to determine if self-sabotage is to blame for stalled progress and reveals the winning formula for long-haul success.
243: Intentionally Lucky with Dr. Rachel Pope
Continuing her month-long focus on living with intention, Sundae welcomes Dr. Rachel Pope. An expat most of her adult life, Rachel is an OBGYN specializing in obstetric fistula and other childbirth injuries in Sub-Saharan Africa. Rachel shares how she meshed the profession she loves with her passion for social justice and recounts her challenges, triumphs, and transformation abroad. The ladies also discuss the underrated impact of transition.
242: Loving & Leaving Well with Amel Derragui
Sundae welcomes back business and marketing coach, speaker, and podcast host of Tandem Nomads, Amel Derragui. A seasoned expat, Amel offers up portable business pro tips and shares her secrets for how to make people feel deeply loved from afar. The ladies also recount the touching story of how Amel cleverly celebrated Sundae’s last birthday.
241: Purpose Fluidity
Sundae rewinds to four years ago for a look back on episode 32: 5 Tips for Finding Your Purpose. She resists shaming herself for her then-less-than-fluid podcasting skills and compares that previous advice against her current, evolved perspective. Sundae also expands on those past key points and reframes purpose expectations to fit the modern world.
Best podcast for anyone who lives abroad
This is my favorite podcast on expat life. Sundae is super knowledgeable, but also relatable. Her passion for helping people better their lives shines through. She offers concrete solutions for overcoming the many challenges of expat life, but also life in general. Also love the guests who contribute to make this show a must-listen for anyone who is living abroad and dealing with the complexities of a mobile life. A great bonus is: no annoying commercial breaks to skip through.
Best podcast for global mobility & life challenges
Sometimes solo, sometimes with experts from a wide range of fields but always somehow relevant to Expat life. Sometimes mobility specific, sometimes personal development oriented but always entertaining, informative and over too soon. A must listen to!
Sundae has saved my expat life!
I've learned so much from Sundae's podcast--about how to thrive as an expat, but so much of her advice is helpful even if you've never set foot outside your home country. She and I share similar backgrounds--growing up in rural mid-America, finding love abroad and now raising cross-cultural kids--so I feel like she really speaks directly to my challenges living oversees. Thanks, Sundae!
