    The laundromat has always been a place fit for purpose, and not much else. For many, the trip to this location was considered nothing more than a chore.

    But some businesses have converted this somewhat dreary and tedious experience into something exciting and fresh, by adding cafes and in some cases a full restaurant and bar. Casper Mattresses and Dental Spas in New York are other examples of businesses looking to change an otherwise dreary experience into something fun and exciting.

    In this episode, Kiran and Tom discuss how the concept of businesses converting an otherwise bad or predictable user experience into something exciting and unexpected could yield impressive results.

    Americans are retiring at an increasing pace. Recent research from Deutsche Bank estimates the number of Americans retiring daily has nearly doubled since the year 2000.

    Currently, roughly 10,000 people turn 65 each day, the standard age for retirement, and according to Census forecasts that number is set to rise. It will reach nearly 12,000 people within the next 10 years. By 2030, according to the Census Bureau, all baby boomers will be older than 65.

    But as life expectancy and quality of life at an older age increases, will the retirement experience be redesigned? What will the future of retirement look like from an experience perspective?

The creators behind the app 'Cameo' believe in the value derived from shoutouts, and has created a platform to inorganically replicate the celebrity shoutout. Essentially, for a fee, you can ask a celebrity to give you a shoutout!

    Want Brett Favre to give you a video shoutout? That will be $500...Snoop Dogg? That will set you back $3,000! It seems a lot of people are willing to pay for this short-term experience, and the platform is growing rapidly. In fact, in July 2019 the company raised $50M, fulfilling an average of 2,000 video requests per day, with the top earners making well over 6-figures.
