Hi everyone, we hope you are hanging in there and are wishing all of you well. We recorded this episode before the pandemic became prevalent here in the U.S. and many of us went indoors and apart from one another (this was recorded in a blanket fort in Flo's living room! Think of it!) so just to recognize here that everything is strange and uncertain and we are thinking of all of you. In this episode we discuss human pool tables, Russian ice slides, the Blow Hole Theatre and Jane Austen vs. Brontes (thank goodness we have Austen AND the Brontes and don't actually have to choose though).

I think that you are correct Flo, that the people in history in the state of grace can sound strangely like the people of today who do self harm, and suffer with some forms of mental illness, through the things they did. I’m under the assumption that Saint Catherine commited herself to Jesus and being true to him wanted to deny herself worldly pleasures to prove her commitment and love for God and Jesus. And, I sometimes wonder that if more people of today allowed themselves to believe and commit themselves to Jesus or God that them might have some type of outlet to channel their pain and or suffering to the passion like the saints of the past had. That being said consuming of the pain and suffering of others like Saint Catherine, while being foul to me also is a beautiful sign of her commitment to Jesus to show she accepted the pain of the people around her as a way of her doing penance and committing herself fully to Jesus and his suffering for us. Very interesting podcast today. Keep up the good work.
Hilarious Fun Facts!
This podcast was just recommended to me...and I LOVE IT! I laughed out loud for most of the Train Crashes for Entertainment episode! Mostly because I'm from Texas and Waco and that city is just a hotbed of strangeness! Love the fun facts and fun accents! Can't wait to listen to more!
