Essential

I’ve been following Jamie for a few years now and was excited to listen to the episodes with her and @barbiesavior. As an MK, I was very curious to listen to the episode re MKs. However, at first I questioned, “where’s the talk about abuse?” After pondering I was thankful that the conversation set a baseline of trauma that ALL mks suffer even without the abuse that is prevalent in missions. I hope you return for further discussions.

Thank you.

White Savior series is thought provoking and needed!

I was fascinated when I saw the title and I’m so glad I listened. I’d love to hear the conversation expand and encompass what this looks like in missions outside of African nations. What does the white savior complex look like in Latin America, Tibet, India, the 1040 window? Is the colonized mindset as defined and prevalent in other “third world”/developing nation?

You’ve discussed the issues with voluntourism, and relief work, but thoughts on people who fully invest in a community for evangelism purposes? Bible translation? Offering pastoral training? I understand how the white savior is obvious in aid work, but what about other aspects of ministry? How would you identify white savior-ism in those areas?

I’d love to hear more!
