    12. a wine down for the finale!

we're closing out the season with a wine down. thank you all for tuning in with us and supporting us on this ride. we're looking forward to season two but this break is so necessary!

    show notes:

while discussing rita moreno, i—@brinnoire—referenced the Grapevine's most recent episode (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SIg6if0NBlY)

during the conversation about the colonization of Black beauty, @ayeshakfaines paraphrased a passage from moreno's memoir. while editing this episode, i learned that Ayesha recently passed away. The Grapevine is an amazing platform that amplifies the voices of some of my favorite Black millennials. Ayesha K Faines was top tier and she will be deeply missed.

also, historian Lyra Monteiro's interview about Lin Manuel Miranda's 'Hamilton' can be read here: https://slate.com/culture/2016/04/a-hamilton-critic-on-why-the-musical-isnt-so-revolutionary.html

    8. representation, DC3 & janet mock

we had fun recording episode 8! we started with a conversation about representation, diversity and inclusion — it matters but it ain't everything! during the wine down we celebrated the 20th anniversary of Destiny's Child's iconic album 'Survivor' by running through the tracklist and reminiscing on each song! we closed with a discussion brought on by Janet Mock's no-holds-barred speech at the 'Pose' premiere party.

    Enjoy!
