125. Let’s Taco ‘Bout Blood and Black Lace featuring Lauren La Melle
IT’S BLOODY GIAL-LY!!!
This month, I take a detour into a miniseries on the Giallo genre. You see, for some reason, this genre never really quite stuck with me and I want to change that. I am doing five episodes with people who love Giallo, talking about some of their favorite entries in the genre. On this, the debut of the miniseries, I am joined by Lauren La Melle, a Bronx-based filmmaker with her Masters degree in Horror. The co-host of the Scary Crit Podcast joins me to talk about the game-changer that is the Leprechaun franchise, her film school experience, and how professional wrestling is THE principal storytelling art form. We then dive into the 1964 Mario Bava masterpiece, Blood and Black Lace.
You can find Lauren on social media on Instagram and Twitter @laurenlamelle. You can also follow A Scary Crit Podcast @ScaryCritPod. You can also listen and subscribe the podcast on Apple, Spotify, Stitcher, Amazon Music, or wherever you download your podcasts.

122. Let's Taco 'Bout Hazard featuring Daniel Bergeson and Bobby Peacock
On this week’s episode, The Fat Dude is all about promoting Hazard. Hazard is a short film created by Sioux Falls filmmakers Daniel Bergeson and Bobby Peacock. The duo join the show to discuss their short film, their creative partnership, and how it feels to make an independent film in the Midwest. The two also share what movies had an impact on their style and desire to tell stories.
You can catch Hazard when it has its red carpet premiere at The State Theatre in Sioux Falls, SD, on Tuesday, May 10, at 7 PM. The screening of the short film will also include the work of another local filmmaker, Taylor Yocum, as a showcase of Black South Dakota filmmakers. There will be a Q&A and panel featuring the filmmakers and social justice advocates here in the area following the film. Check out the event on Facebook for more information.

Customer Reviews
Andy is Wonderful
This is an excellent podcast hosted by Andy (the resident Fat DudeTM). He is infectiously enthusiastic about movies. It is a lot of fun to listen to him both review movies and interview film industry folks as well as other film nerds and friends. You can easily tell how passionate Andy is about movies and I highly recommend this podcast. You can literally start anywhere, but my favs are the interview with Greg Sestero from the cult classic The Room, or any episode on any Star Wars movie. The Force is with The Fat Dude! =)
5 stars isn’t enough
Where has this pod been all my life? It feels like a 5 minute episode each week, simply because it zooms by that quickly. I mean, it’s SO easy to get enthralled with every episode because the conversations are genuine, captivating and always different. Cannot recommend enough!
One of my favorite film shows
Andy is incredibly knowledgeable when it comes to film and even more passionate about them. His insight into themes, structure is second to none. Love listening to him talk about movies.
