S02.45: Vivian Stephens' Acquisitions with librarian Steve Ammidown

It felt fitting that our final episode of Season 2—during which we celebrated so many of the vintage romances that blooded us—would be with someone we could fully geek out with! We are thrilled to have Steve Ammidown, romance nerd and archivist at the Browne Popular Culture Library at Bowling Green State University, with us today to talk about Vivian Stephens and early category romances. To prepare, all three of us read some of the earliest American category romances, and wow were they a ride! We’re talking women who work, marriage in romance, older heroines, the impact of Vietnam on 1980s romances, and more. Strap in!

Love this already!

I have no idea why I haven’t heard about this podcast before now but I’m so happy. I listen to Kresley’s books on audible and I’ve listened to them all, many, many times! Kresley is my favorite author and Robert is one of my favorite narrators. Him & Sebastian York are tied for first place in my opinion both amazing. I’ve listened to the .5 episode so far and you ladies have me hooked! I’m so happy to find other ladies as passionate as me about Kresley’s writing.

Love this podcast!

Jen and Sarah’s shared passion for well-crafted, well-written, and sexy romance novels is refreshing and delightful. Their enthusiasm for the genre and analysis is by turns funny, thought-provoking, and touching. I’m so glad I discovered this podcast. It’s one of the biggest gifts to come out of quarantine. Thank you, Jen and Sarah!
