The Fear and Courage Podcast tells the stories of military service members, law enforcement officers, and first responders. These experiences are intense and in many ways foreign to the majority of people. The show includes stories with intensity, unique experiences, personal impacts (positive and negative), and lives changed for the better or worse as a result of a career of service. By telling the impactful stories of education, training, operations, traumas, victories, career paths, and family experiences that come from service, we hope to better understand the full impact of one person's choice to serve. I hope for the personal impact on those who serve to be a factor in the national conversation about military deployment thresholds and national and state law enforcement/first responder policy and regulation.

Matt was one of my students at The Citadel, one of the six United States senior military colleges, and he graduated in 2015. He was commissioned as an Army Infantry Officer and has completed Ranger, Airborne, and Long Range Surveillance qualifications among others. He has served as a Platoon leader in the 4th Infantry Division and served on deployment to Afghanistan in 2018 and 2019. Great talks

This podcast has a wide range of individuals from very different MOS speaking about their experiences. I think this will help a lot of people understand what kind of mindset and character one must be have to handle some of the situations that arise in military life. This is a terrific podcast even if you do not have any previous knowledge about military life. Michael Gasser does a wonderful job giving civilian comparisons to explain more complicated topics for those that do not understand. I have found this podcast to be very informational and enlightening as well as entertaining and I will certainly keep listening.

Captivating

This podcast had me captivated from the get-go. Really interesting stories that will have you questioning any previously held thoughts or ideas you had about the mechanics of war and its effects on those who fight them. A good mix of humor and gut-punching reality. Can’t wait for the next one.

Great concept

Creating a platform for veterans, active service members, and first responders to tell their stories and lessons learned was a great concept, and it was well executed in this podcast. Mike does a good job interviewing the guests, while keeping the focus on their story. I look forward to the upcoming guests and future episodes.
