Episode 52: The Wilderness "Make the Road By Walking"

Episode 52: The Wilderness "Make the Road By Walking"

For Episode 52, we have our first non-American band on the show.  A group called the Wilderness from Kingston, Ontario.  That's Canada, if you're curious.  They give us the front seat on their summer tour of the states and tell us a few stories along the way.  They play for us 4 songs; "Hurry Up and Wait", a single released in March of this year, "Home", "No Surprise" and "Dancing in the Dive Bars".  The latter is the single from their new EP "Seminary Road" released last month.  This is also our first video podcast available for viewing on our brand new YouTube channel "Tennessee Back Porch Podcast" and our facebook page.  A big shoutout to Cooper Brown of Coopertheband for lending his time and skill to make our first video.  Give these guys a good listen and keep your ear to the ground as to when they'll be coming back through.  Our band was lucky to share the stage with them the very next night at the Downtown Tavern here in Jackson, TN.  I have a feeling they'll be coming back next year.  Enjoy!

    Episode 51: Coopertheband "Aural Vibrations"

For episode 51 of the Back Porch Podcast we banter about with local favorites, Coopertheband.  They play "Invisible Man", "Home", "Undignified" and "Rebels" from their debut album "Kingdoms" released in the summer of 2017.  This band is not only talented, they possess an uncanny ability to create new material with a familiar resonance.  You'll not only love the music, you'll love this band.  Keep your ears to the ground for any chance to get out and catch them live.  They are an incredible live band that will leave you with an indelible spark. So, let them brighten your day.  Enjoy!

Episode 50: The Doublewides "This Machine Kills Fascist"

Episode 50: The Doublewides "This Machine Kills Fascist"

For our 50th episode of the Back Porch Podcast, we sit down with The Doublewides.  A rockabilly group from right here in the home of Rockabilly, Jackson, Tennessee.  They call it Jaxabilly, so that's what we'll call it.  They are a serious throwback with the means to convey a most authentic retelling of the attitude that existed so heavily in the 50's when Rockabilly was a counter culture.  They go straight to the source.  Cultivating their grit from local legends such as Carl Perkins and W. S. Holland to modern day artist, Reverend Horton Heat.  You may have thought Rockabilly was you grandfathers music.  You'd be mistaken.  Enjoy a quick history lesson about the music that helped build what we know today as rock music.  Enjoy!  P.S. Stand up bass action.

Episode 49: Brandon Boyd Lewis "When It Hits, You Feel No Pain"

Episode 49: Brandon Boyd Lewis "When It Hits, You Feel No Pain"

For Episode 49 we talk to local singer/songwriter Brandon Boyd Lewis about his style, his influence and what made him want to be a songwriter.  He plays us a some of his most recent material and shows us his dark side with a track he cut himself.  If you like feel good music with smokey vocals, you'll want to tune in and let Brandon take you down that dusty road back home.  Be on the lookout for new music from Brandon in the coming year.  A little birdie told me there might be something in the works.  If you like what you hear, get out and see a show or two.  You can just about catch him every weekend out playing venues in Jackson, TN.  Enjoy!

Episode 48: The Skeleton Krew “Graveyard Manner”

The Back Porch is back after a short month off with Hunter Cross and Cameron Briley of The Skeleton Krew.  They are a busy troupe and kindly take some time out to talk with us and play a few songs without the consent of Cameron’s agent.  Oops!  We learn Hunter tricked Cameron into to being in the band,”organically”,  we take a vague trip to the twilight zone and Steve learns they speak Portuguese in Brazil.  Yet, another fun filled episode to either strengthen what you already know about this group or introduce you to something new.  Enjoy!
