260 episodes

We live in a world of overwhelm—not enough time, not enough energy, not enough money... the list of not-enoughness could go on and on. Most of us can only dream of finding margin. Most of us struggle to have time, energy, etc. to really fulfill God's calling in our lives, to be the people He's designed us to be. Without changing how we live, we will never find margin to thrive.
Epic Every Day is about transforming each moment from the inside out, creating margin in that moment by using the CSC's. Living in the CSCs is a state of being; being calm, surrendered, centered, connected, and complete. They are an adaptation of Peter Ralston's Tai Chi principles and can also be found all over the Bible. Being in the CSCs can transform each moment into a place of freedom and enough-ness, no matter what your circumstances are.

It’s our 160th episode and our final show for a while. We’re talking about what we’ve learned about being complete today after talking about it every Friday for a year. Evan talks about being more willing to take imperfect action and how freeing that is. Liz talks about helpful it is to use her whole self in the current situation. You can always go back and listen to our other episodes! We have enough for you to listen daily (week days) for an entire year.

Lonely Every Day Until You Try This

Lonely Every Day Until You Try This

Are you working hard on ministry but know inside that you’re lonely? There is a way to stay vulnerable and keep reaching out. The CSCs are the way out of that isolation. Today we’re talking about connection, but really, all the CSCs (Calm, Surrender, Centered, Connected, & Complete) give us the ability to be connected to God and others in a healthy way. You don’t want to have to wait 35 years to ever express your feelings, especially if you’re suppressing resentment—that just looks like lashing out in bitterness.

    You are Not Beyond Repair

    You are Not Beyond Repair

When you are centered, you are freed up to act in spite of the chaos, to shine like a light, to be whatever God designed you to be. Liz talks about her favorite homework that keeps her centered, and Evan talks about how nice it is not not be a social chameleon. It is important to distinguish within yourself the hard-wired things you can’t change and the caught and taught stuff that can and should be changing as you mature.

    Come What May

    Come What May

Surrender is the quickest route to peace—way more effective than squashing emotions. When we try to control our situation, it just ends up getting us stuck at point A instead of getting us closer to point B. It is possible to have much better self-talk through surrender. We don’t want to be double-minded.

    Can’t Numb the Feeling

    Can’t Numb the Feeling

You grab onto Calm by letting go, and it just takes a second. This week we are reflecting back on what we’ve learned making the show for an entire year! It used to seem normal to be swept away by overwhelm. It also seemed like staying calm depended on circumstances. Evan & Liz discuss how their thoughts have changed.

Prayer: the Pathway to the Real World

Prayer: the Pathway to the Real World

In 2 Corinthians, Paul talks about how the troubles of the world are not eternal—how he fixes his eyes on what is unseen because what is seen is temporary. Through prayer, we too can have a real-world perspective.
