Good books gone bad...

Welcome to Badaptations 2.0, the podcast edition! Previously on YouTube, we have switched to podcast format.

We talk about the good, the bad, and the ugly about films that were adapted from books, lending our pop culture and PhD expertise to these trash films. (Trust us: we’re doctors... of literature!)

    Frankenhooker - Badaptations (Chapter 9)

    Frankenhooker - Badaptations (Chapter 9)

"Want a date? Looking for some action? Need some company?"

Mary Shelley's 1818 classic /Frankenstein/ has been the inspiration for many an adaptation, but Frank Henenlotter's 1990 /Frankenhooker/ is like no Frankenstein adaptation we've seen before.

In this episode we dive in to "A tale of sluts and bolts" (and apparently a Bill Murray favorite!) and ask: How did Mary Shelley's articulate, misunderstood creature transform into an undead prostitute with a weaponized vagina? What can /Frankenhooker/ teach us about bioethics? Is /Frankenhooker/ a feminist film? Join us as we answer these questions and more!

Our first podcast review is a real doozy... MTV's Wuthering Heights (2003), starring Erika Christensen, Mike Vogel, et al. This is trash in its purest and most glorious form...

Listen as we explore the windy moors of SoCal in this rock n' roll, modern retelling of the famous Emily Brontë novel. Many hijinks ensue.

Fun, Suprisingly Educational

Fun podcast for booklovers. Learned about movies I've never heard of. Good conversation b/w the two hosts with some educational elements about things like history and literature thrown in. Not sure if you've read it, but the 1987 TV-movie of V.C. Andrew's Flowers in the Attic might be a good episode to do!
