What If YouTube Was Just A Hobby?

After a long time away, I'm back with a short episode where I talk about how YouTube has transformed from a curiosity into a career and how the most interesting things on YouTube have nothing to do with it.

What Were We Talking About? Episode 3 - On Alvaro Enrigue's Sudden Death

What Were We Talking About? Episode 3 - On Alvaro Enrigue's Sudden Death

This podcast is an attempt to explain my enthusiasm for a book that's hard to pin down in any one pigeonhole or genre of work. The novel encompasses so many aspects of 16th century history on either side of the Atlantic ocean while simultaneously criticizing much of what the authoritarian structures in the Old World represented at the time that it becomes impossible to actually say what this book is about in any concise, comprehensible way, and so we arrive at this 47 minute rant where I try my best to condense and convey what it is about Sudden Death that makes it both an inspired work of art and an ideal that I strive to live by.

What Were We Talking About? Episode 2 - On Complacency/Mediocrity

What Were We Talking About? Episode 2 - On Complacency/Mediocrity

In the second episode of What Were We Talking About? I go into length about what I perceive to be complacency and an acceptance of mediocrity in modern internet media (new media, if you wanna call it that). In traditional style I extrapolate way too far and end up talking about the education system (a topic I only have second hand knowledge of), and various other topics. I'm glad this didn't descend into blockchain talk like it usually does, phew.
P.S. This was recorded before I had seen the This Is America video from Childish Gambino, a video which I think actually pushes the medium forward (a phrase I overuse in this post) and which is so dense it will probably require the longer format to even try and do justice to (not to suggest that I will be doing that, I don't think I could formulate my thoughts sufficiently to do a good job but it is something which merits a closer look).

What Were We Talking About? - episode 1

What Were We Talking About? - episode 1

In episode 1, I talk with my sister about things ranging from the problems with modern day capitalism to voting through the blockchain. Unbridled optimism with a side of pretentiousness, what an amazing combination.
