Manhattan native Rob Stoner (born Rothstein) graduated from New York City's Columbia College in 1969. While still in school, his band was signed to a songwriting contract by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. During the early 70's, he became an in-demand session musician. He sang and played guitar, bass and piano on many recordings, including "American Pie" by Don McLean.

In 1973, he began a career as a solo singer and songwriter, recording his original songs for Epic Records in Nashville. His rockabilly band, Rockin' Rob and the Rebels, became headliners on the national nightclub circuit and appeared on television. In 1975, Bob Dylan hired Rob as his bandleader and opening act for the Rolling Thunder Revue. He played and sang on several Dylan albums, including Desire, Biograph, Hard Rain, Live at Budokan and Live 1975, while touring with Dylan.

Resuming his solo career, Rob released a critically acclaimed solo album of original songs on MCA Records. He also became the first non-Southerner to release an album on Sun Records and continued to tour and record with various acts including his own throughout the nineties. His compositions have been recorded by Link Wray, Johnny Winter, Shirley Bassey, Robert Gordon, and others. Rob has co-written three off-off-Broadway musicals, all of which were staged and produced in New York City. He now lives in Rockland County, NY, where he remains active on the music scene.

David Uosikkinen's In The Pocket Podcast with guest Jimmy Salamone

Jim Salamone, started his musical journey as a drummer in his hometown of Philadelphia. As the years went by, he found himself opening up for artists like John Lennon and Larry Coryell, to then backing up artists such as Chuck Berry and Joe Cocker. Riveting live performances paved the way for his extensive studio drumming career, eventually making a home for himself at Philadelphia's famed, Sigma Sound Studio. By the early 1980's Jim applied his drumming and technical skills into sequencing drum machines and producing records for an array of critically acclaimed international artists. As the years passed, he had cultivated a long list of major label credits and accolades (including grammy nominations) for his many skills, whether it be drumming, writing, engineering, producing, mixing, and mastering or all of the above. Some of Jim's more widely known credits include popular artists such as Bon Jovi, Teddy Pendergrass, The O'Jays, Gladys Knight & The Pips, The Rolling Stones and many more. To see a list of some of his credits, please click here. After nearly two decades of owning and operating studios in various places like Sigma Sound Studios and Studio 4, Jim decided to open a studio of his own. In 2007, Jim started creating Cambridge Sound Studios, a beautiful and large studio originally located in historic town of Newtown, Pa in Bucks County . Since the studio opened it's doors in May of 2008, with each passing year, it was becoming more and more apparent that the studio had outgrown it's Bucks County location and the operation was in need for more space. As a result, Cambridge Sound Studios relocated to it's current location in South Philadelphia.

Pierre!!

I love this Podcast. Been a Hooters fan as long as I can remember. I was blown away by the Pierre Robert interview. I grew up listening to WMMR and Pierre was my favorite. I just met him last year after the DropKick Murphys show at Festival Pier. To hear him talk about WMMR and the special relationship the station has with Philly was awesome. My son is a huge music lover, and appreciates all genres. We don’t live close enough to Philly to get WMMR in clearly but we come to town often for concerts and games so 93.3 is always on then. I’m having him listen to this episode as soon as he gets home from work. Can’t wait for the Hooter’s show in November. Keep up the good work guys!!
