Uniquity over Ubiquity is a show that delves deep into the mind of an up and coming artist, as well as the artist that inspired them!

Anyone that is gaining traction in their field is worth interviewing! We ask our guests to tell us ahead of time who their favorite artist/inspiration is. Once I have the artist I study their career and life and generate a pretty substantial list of questions. These questions relate to many things, such as comparison points between the two careers, questions about famous quotes, or even opinions/first impressions. Tune in to hear about the artistic process.

    Episode 10: Matt Carter/Nate Bargatze

Welcome to Episode 10! Back to the comedy with Matt Carter talking about Nate Bargatze!

Matt has been making his way through the Southeast on the Stand Up stage. I knew him back in high school when he was in a bands and theater with me! I was delighted to hear that he has been following one of my true all-time passions, comedy! Naturally I decided it was time to have him on the show, the chemistry was already there. Matt talked with us about Nate Bargatze who just recently released a Netflix special and has been making his way through the comedy scene with his clean comedy acts that remain relatable still! This conversation really brought to light the impact of how you feel about and perceive things while approaching any part of art or entertainment. A lot of these questions were written while watching Chase Jarvis' interview with Nate titled Nate Bargatze: Creativity, Comedy + Never Settling. I'd highly recommend checking that out! I want to thank Matt for agreeing to do this with me and having faith in my idea! So happy to see an old friend making people happy and doing something he wants to. Until next time!

    Episode 9: Michal Menert/Beastie Boys

    Episode 9: Michal Menert/Beastie Boys

    What is up music fans?!
THIS EPISODE IS HUGE! Episode 9 features Michal Menert!

Michal was a huge part of the beginning of Pretty Lights Music! But that's not his only claim to fame. He has been smashing festivals and local venues for years! This is by far one of the most soulful musicians alive. From the things he says, to the sounds he broadcasts through the speakers, the feels are unstoppable and palpable! Michal talked with us about The Everlasting Beastie Boys! Listen in as we talk about being impacted by music at a young age, the difference between city life and being surrounded by trees and peace, and what happens when you leave your comfort zone. Michal is such an insightful and artistic human being and a glimpse into his mind is always motivating/enlightening. These two artists single handedly changed the scope of the genres they burst into starting out. There's also a little bit about how Pretty Lights started as well as some tidbits Derek and Michal's rap group, Listen. We love Michal Menert and can't thank him enough!

    THIS IS SO EXCITING!

    Episode 8: Rick Bryan/Eddie Murphy

    Episode 8: Rick Bryan/Eddie Murphy

Welcome to Episode 8! This is the first episode of 2020! We are mixing things up a little bit and starting the year off with my other love, comedy! Local Denver based comedian Rick Bryan sat down to chat with us about his inspiration Eddie Murphy! Anyone who has laughed before knows exactly who Eddie is! With Eddie just doing his return to SNL as a host, it's never been a more perfect time to discuss this legend! We get deep and talk about loss, fighting through pain, and all of the controversy surrounding being a comedian! This episode is different but we still get down to the same core info and understanding of what it takes to stand out! Thanks so much to Rick for sitting down with us.

Eddie Murphy doesn't really have links.

He is too cool for the internet and we respect that.

    Episode 7: Turvy Organ/Modest Mouse

    Episode 7: Turvy Organ/Modest Mouse

Episode 7  is up! We sat down with Colorado based Turvy Organ to talk about one of  their inspirations Modest Mouse. When we found these guys at a local  venue we were instantly hooked on their sound! They’ve got that core  Modest Mouse feel, while still maintaining their own unique sound. Tune  in and listen to us talk about what it takes to start from nothing, live  with your bandmates, and still make something special. We are so happy to close this year out with a local Denver based talent! This is the city that made this show possible, from Episode 1 with Mr. Bill 20 minutes from UoU HQ all the way to meeting this band downtown, Denver is truly one of the most happening spots for artists (especially musicians!). Thank you so much to everyone for listening to us from then to now! We cannot wait to see what next year has in store, we're anticipating more frequent episodes, and more engagements with YOU, our listeners! Until next time!

    Episode 6: Chris Dyer/Jim Phillips

    Episode 6: Chris Dyer/Jim Phillips

    Description:

Episode 6 is up and we are talking visuals! Chris Dyer, well known and epic painter came to our studio in Denver, drew a picture for Uniquity over Ubiquity, and talked deeply and passionately about his role as an artist. Listen and learn as we talk about art, overdoing it, nature, and what it means to pay respects and homage without copying another artist altogether. Chris is an awesome artist and an even cooler person. You can tell just by the way he talks and the words he uses that he is on a serious path to enlightenment. As he follows that path he leaves bright colored murals and merch in his wake. We hope you enjoy this one!

    Episode 5: Jordan Remar/Zoe Jakes

    Episode 5: Jordan Remar/Zoe Jakes

We’re back!! Life got in the way, but art never dies!

We talked with the lovely and flexible Jordan Remar (dancer for Govinda and many others) about one of my favorite performers alive, Zoe Jakes (Beats Antique). This show is a new one in many ways. First of all this is our first episode featuring a woman! Not only that, but we get to get into something different than just musicians, we are talking about dance! This episode is as awesome as it sounds, we break down what it means to dance to every bit of the music. Jordan talks with us about beginnings, paving the way for live dance in the music festival scene, and the ways perceive dance and movement. Jordan is such a soft and sweet person to have on this show and we can’t thank her enough. This episode is the second of our double feature, her partner in life and in music Govinda was on Episode 4 talking about Tipper. Listen to that one if you haven’t! Thanks again to Jordan and Govinda for talking with us about their combined art form and how it all works! We would love to have more shows like this one.
