In the early hours of May 1st 2010, 24 year old escort Shannan Gilbert makes a 23-minute panicked phone call to the Suffolk County Police Department screaming, "they're trying to kill me." Gilbert is last seen frantically knocking on doors and pleading for help throughout Oak Beach, an isolated neighborhood on Long Island's south shore.

It will be 7 months until Gilbert's body is found. Her disappearance unearths 10 bodies, police corruption, and the hunting and burial ground of a serial killer still at large.

**Please note, when we say Joe Brewer’s polygraph results were "unclear," we are referring to this piece of evidence from Robert Kolker’s book Lost Girls: An Unsolved American Mystery, "Brewer claimed to have taken a polygraph, and while the police didn't describe the results or confirm right away that he had submitted to the test, they also didn't declare Brewer a suspect or a person of interest" (p.199). The term "unclear" is used to summarize this quote, as there is no definitive conclusion in regard to the polygraph.

Good, but one request

I like how your podcast is on target and you don’t waste a lot of time babbling in the beginning about non related content. I also like how you give all your resources at the beginning so listeners know where you got your information. Next, I don’t necessarily like podcasts with 2 hosts because usually one does most of the talking while the other is just background noise. The only thing I wish you might do to make this a bit better is to slow down a bit, and each of you get to talk a bit longer, say a paragraph or two, then the other talk about the same length of time.
The way you “read” your podcasts now, done very briskly with each one saying a line or two, your show sounds a bit more like listening to the news.
That’d be my only comment that might make this sound a bit better. Other than that, good job 👍🏼

Loved it!

Great show ladies! Loved everything about it!

Ok podcast

This podcast didn’t offer anything new about the LISK. It pulls from previously published books and interviews. But If you don’t know anything about this story, it will enlighten you... my biggest complaint about this podcast though is the 2 girls producing it.. They sound like 2 high schoolers giving a book report in tandem.. it’s also really strange that they crack jokes while reporting about murder victims...
